Client brief:
After being referred to Build Professional, our client contacted the team to discuss the possibility of extending and changing the façade of her home.
Our Design Consultant listened to our client’s requirements and ideas and discussed the Build Professional design and construct process in great detail during our initial phone conversation. Our client agreed to hold a design consultation at her home, this two hour consultation allowed our design consultant to really understand how their family lived whilst also assessing the physical aspects of the home.
The brief to the Build Professional team was an extra living space was required to provide the family with two separate living zones as well as an updated and modernised front exterior of her home including a new entry. A new outdoor area and vergola was also required.
Design & Construction:
Within two weeks the Build Professional team came up with a design concept following the brief and meeting the desired budget and a contract was signed.
The design solution that the Build Professional team established for the home was to extend and create a new entrance opening into a new family room that would then open up through glass sliding doors onto a tiled patio with a vergola roof structure. A bi-fold window was also to be added to the kitchen that would open up to the alfresco area acting as a servery.
A consideration during the design and construct process for future proofing requirements for our client, was to provide structural adequacy to remove the sliding doors and walls to make a larger open plan living area if and whenever required,
To update the façade, our design consultant developed a design that included a parapet wall on the extension and a new stacked slate covered entrance with a timber and glass front door with smart lock entry. The design also included rendering and painting the front exterior and extension walls to totally transform the façade whilst being sympathetic to the old world charm of homes in Griffith.
As comfort throughout the seasons was also important to our client, alterations to the heating and cooling systems were also included with air-conditioning being added to the new family room.
As most of our client’s do, our client’s family remained living in the home throughout the process. Our client was surprised at the extent that the Build Professional team went out of their way to ensure that they could maintain their lifestyle with minimal disruption. As promised this project was completed in time for our clients to enjoy their remodelled home over the Christmas and summer holiday period. This was a result of a well organised and careful planning approach that helped the construction team to execute on time and on budget as expected.
Completion:
Our client is absolutely delighted with the remodel and extension of her family home. The front façade has transformed her home and the addition of the new entry, living room and outdoor area has changed the way our client’s family live. Our clients also expressed how comfortable her home has been throughout the summer heat that we have experienced.
Build Professional is proud of the end result that we achieved within the budget we were allocated. We are also delighted with the timing of the project, given the amount of rain that occurred during the construction period, the team were diligent in meeting the pre-Christmas deadline.
