Chifley Remodel and Extension – 2010 MBA Award Winning Project

Brief from Client:

The brief for this Chifley project was to remodel an aged 1960s home into a large modern home built to an excellent standard with an effortless style. The design brief was to work with what the original home had to offer yet create a great open floor plan with separate living zones that would meet the living and entertaining needs of a family.

Renovation Summary:

The original home consisted of three bedrooms, a small dark living area, the original separate kitchen, a double garage, a carport, an original bathroom and laundry. The remodelled home accomplished a covered entrance into a large light filled modern open living area that opened onto a large entertaining area through alfresco stacked sliding doors, with the open living area included a contemporary galley kitchen. A rumpus room or large office was positioned separate to the open living area with internal access to a double garage and access to a private deck. A segregated master suite offered a large ensuite, walk in robe and access to a private deck. The three remaining bedrooms consisted of built in robes and the main bathroom, separate toilet and laundry remained in their original position offering central access to the home.

Outcomes:

This remodelling and extension project was a great success. The desire to create what looked and felt like a brand new home with the living areas flowing seamlessly from the old to the new was met. The end result was a large modern home offering a desirable floor plan that showcased excellent quality and an appealing palette.

Features of this home include tallowood timber flooring, comfort plus aluminium windows, sliding doors and stacked alfresco doors. The galley kitchen was custom built with caesar stone bench tops, glass splashback, European stainless steel appliances including an integrated dishwasher, shadow line detail and pendant lighting. The ensuite included a double custom built floating vanity with double basins and a ceasar stone bench top, floor to ceiling tiling and a large double shower. The bathroom consists of custom built joinery with a caesar stone bench top, floor to ceiling tiles, bath with recess feature and separate shower. The separate toilet also features 1200m tiling and the laundry also consists of custom built joinery with a caesar stone bench top. 100% wool carpet is featured in all the bedrooms.

A brick letterbox, concrete driveway and an extra parking bay completed the home.
